Insulation for McCrae Homes

Ceilings in Melbourne typically use R4.0 to R6.0 batts. Higher R-values provide better thermal resistance for coastal homes exposed to strong sun and winds. We’ll recommend the best option based on your roof space and budget.

Yes. Underfloor insulation is ideal for raised homes on stumps. We install batts between the bearers and joists to reduce draughts and moisture from the crawl space, improving comfort and energy efficiency.

A standard ceiling or underfloor insulation job in McCrae usually takes half a day to a full day, depending on access, roof pitch and the size of the home. We’ll give you a clear timeframe after the initial inspection.

If the old insulation is damaged, compressed or contaminated, we remove it before installing new batts. If it’s in good condition, we can top it up. If asbestos is suspected, work stops until a qualified assessor inspects it.

Bulk insulation like glasswool or polyester is best for trapping heat in winter and keeping it out in summer. Reflective foil (sisalation) works well under roofs to block radiant heat. Often, a combination of both provides the best results for coastal homes.

Yes. Bulk insulation, especially dense batts, absorbs sound and reduces noise transfer between rooms and from outside. This is particularly useful for homes near busy roads or in denser areas.
